Project Brief:

Rooftop Air Conditioning System Replacement at BCF Capalaba

BCF Capalaba required the replacement of an ageing rooftop package air conditioning system servicing the retail store. The project involved removing the existing unit and installing a new commercial system while retaining suitable internal ductwork and ceiling grilles to reduce unnecessary disruption and installation costs.

Following a detailed site inspection, Jaric Air Conditioning and Electrical recommended a Daikin UAYQ90CY1A inverter rooftop package system, delivering 26.5kW cooling and 25.7kW heating capacity. The replacement system was selected to provide similar operating capacity to the existing unit while improving reliability and efficiency.

Due to the system’s rooftop location, the installation required careful logistical planning. A crane arrived onsite at 5:00am to remove the existing package unit and lift the new Daikin system into position. Roof access was completed through an access hatch using an extension ladder, allowing our technicians to safely complete the works.

The project included decommissioning and disposing of the existing air conditioning system, installing new external sheet-metal transitions and plenums, modifying the return-air connection and integrating the new unit with the store’s existing sheet-metal ductwork and ceiling grilles.

Our team also installed a new system controller before energising, commissioning and thoroughly testing the new equipment.

The completed installation provided BCF Capalaba with a reliable commercial air conditioning solution designed to maintain comfortable conditions throughout the store while maximising the use of its existing infrastructure.
