EV Charger Installation | Wellington Point

Following the purchase of a new BYD Sealion 8, the homeowner wanted a faster, safer and smarter home charging solution than a standard power point. The charger needed to suit the property’s electrical capacity, meet current electrical and Energex requirements, and provide a clean finish beneath the home’s front carport.

After assessing the existing electrical infrastructure, Jaric Air Conditioning and Electrical supplied and installed an untethered Ohme ePod 7.4kW Smart EV Charger. The installation included a dedicated 32A single-phase circuit from the main switchboard, individual RCBO safety protection, a weatherproof isolation switch and active load management to help prevent the home’s electrical system from becoming overloaded.

Our licensed electricians also completed the required Energex application, testing, commissioning and electrical certification.

The untethered charger features a universal Type 2 socket, allowing the customer to use their own charging cable while maintaining a clean appearance when the charger is not in use. Through the Ohme mobile app, the homeowner can schedule charging during preferred electricity periods, monitor energy use and manage charging remotely.

The completed installation provides the homeowner with a safe, compliant and convenient way to charge their BYD Sealion at home, while offering the flexibility to support future electric vehicles.
