What are QLD's New Compliance Laws?
Under Queensland legislation, all existing homes, townhouses, and units must meet the following requirements by 1 January 2027:
- Photoelectric smoke alarms — not older ionisation-type alarms
- Alarms in every bedroom, hallway, and on each level of the home
- Interconnected alarms — if one sounds, they all sound
- Power from hardwired 240V or a non-removable 10-year lithium battery
